2008 Annual Equity Conference
Working Together for Economic Equity!

Wednesday, March 12, 2008
Co-Sponsored by Columbia College and South Carolina Women Work!
Breed Leadership Center for Women, Columbia College
Columbia, South Carolina

Conference sessions will provide relevant information to enhance
professional goals and objectives in advancing the opportunities of
women in the workforce and in education in South Carolina.  Sessions
will also focus on employment and training legislation, both federal and
state, and their impact on the women and families that we serve.  South
Carolina Women Work! is dedicated to the empowerment of women of
diverse backgrounds and individuals with barriers to economic stability
by establishing partnerships with various agencies, organizations,
businesses/industries, faith-based organizations, and communities.  We
hope to create opportunities for change through education, training, and
professional development.

In addition to our customary updates on federal legislation, this year’s
conference will feature a discussion for encouraging women to pursue
political positions.  A moderator will conduct the session as attendees
receive advice from women who were recently elected to political
positions. South Carolina Women Work! joins organizations like the
Alliance for Women (Columbia College), the Center for Women (College
of Charleston), and Wendy Brawley of "IMARA Woman" magazine in
providing a forum for this discussion.  We hope you'll be able to join us
and lend your voices to continue this important conversation.

Anyone who is interested in women's issues and nontraditional training
and employment should attend this very informative conference.
Registration fee includes membership to the national organization and
state affiliates. We welcome business and industry leaders, community
developers, workforce development professionals, agency providers,
secondary and postsecondary teachers and administrators, job
developers, and state and local agency service providers. This
conference promises to be informative and beneficial for all
professionals spearheading initiatives in education, job training, and
equity programs.  We look forward to seeing you in March!
